LSD (acid)- Lysergic acid diethylamide was the most wide-spread recreational psychedelic used in the 1960s. The liberal counterculture group known as the hippies. This drug was used for gaining perspective on people's roles in society, and for expanding consciousness.
Marijuana- The psychoactive chemical in Marijuana is THC or Delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol. While this drug is not classified as hard of a substance as LSD or psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana was used for pleasure and cemented itself as a defiant symbol against society at large.
Psilocybin mushrooms- Mushrooms have been used for spiritual enlightenment in cultures such as the Aztecs and the Celtics. People usually trip on mushrooms to gain more understanding of the self, their connection with nature, and the world around them. The trip is usually described as spiritual in nature, enhances self-awareness, allowing users to transcend the normal parameters of everyday life and connect to nature.
