Description
The 1946 Bulldogs, led by Charley Trippi and John Rauch, went 11-0 with a victory over North Carolina in the Sugar Bowl. The team was voted #3 in the AP Poll at the end of the season behind Notre Dame and Army. Both Notre Dame and Army had ties on their records having played a 0-0 tie game against each other and neither played in a bowl. Despite this, Notre Dame was voted #1 in the AP Poll and Army #2. Despite posting better statistics, Trippi placed second in voting for the Heisman Trophy behind Army's Glenn Davis.
