<text>Charles Louis Trippi (b. Dec. 14 1921 in Pittston, PA) is one of the greatest football players to ever take the field for the Bulldogs. He was a threat as a runner, a passer, a pass receiver, punter, and as a safety. He was able to lead the Georgia team to a Rose Bowl victory over UCLA on Jan. 1 1943 when his backfield partner Frank Sinkwich was hobbled by two sprained ankles. After two years of service in the military during World War 2, Trippi returned to Athens in 1945. He led the 1946 Bulldogs to an undefeated season and placed 2nd Army's Glenn Davis in voting for the Heisman Trophy. Trippi was a number 1 overall selection in the NFL draft. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Trippi also played professional baseball for the Atlanta Crackers and was an assistant football coach at his alma mater. </text>
