Fashioning the Classic Bride: The Life and Career of Anne Barge
Anne Barge built her life and career around the creation of timeless ensembles for brides. Born in Cordele, Georgia in 1947, she spent her earliest years at her mother’s side listening as she played piano at weddings and sketching brides. Following college and a design apprenticeship, she opened her first bridal line and salon, Anne Barge for Brides, in Atlanta in 1981. In 1999, she established the Anne Barge brand and debuted her first bridal collection at New York Fashion Week. Barge sold her eponymous brand in 2014 and has since focused her talents on consulting and philanthropy efforts to support health and education initiatives.
