The 1946 Bulldogs went 11-0 on the season and were the only unbeaten, untied team in the country at the end of the year. They were named national champions by the Williamson System poll, which is recognized by the NCAA.

The 1950 Bulldogs would go 6-3-3 in Butts' 12th season as head coach.

The 1968 Bulldogs ended the season with an 8-1-2 record. Despite this, they were named national champions by the Litkenhous poll.

The 1980 Bulldogs were the only unbeaten, untied college football team of that season and won an undisputed national championship.

While in Los Angeles for the Rose Bowl, the 1942 team and coaches were offered the opportunity to meet and interact with film stars. Betty Davis gave this autographed picture of herself to Coach Wally Butts.
