DJ Shockley was the first Black quarterback to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to an SEC title. He lead the Bulldogs to a 34-14 over LSU in the SEC Championship Game in the Georgia Dome on December 3, 2005.

Sylvester Boler, no. 55, was the first Black athlete at Georgia named to an All-SEC team. After his 1974 season, injuries derailed his career and he played only sparingly before being forced to give up football.
