The Long brothers were a notable part of the Athens community during the late 19th century. Their dedication to medicine impacted not only the city of Athens, but the world as well.

George Ellis Atkisson was born September 12, 1881 to to Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Atkisson. He died February 17, 1918 in Decatur, Ga at the age of 36. He left behind his wife, Miss Vinnie Wallace Atkisson, and three children.

William Tate was a Dean at UGA. Today, students remember him through the legacy and impact he left on UGA, including being the namesake for the UGA Tate Center.
