The Capitalists (II)

As a matter of efficiency, a private-public partnership is sensible - this is the objectively better way to build the world. It doesn’t take an economist to know that the costs for such construction projects are decreased exponentially after the first one – precisely because the team retains their equipment. Likewise, with expensive medication: It’s the first one that costs millions, everyone after that is relatively free. What’s problematic with this blending, this turning of business interest into government interest and vice versa, is the government then loses its distinctive character as the objective and disinterested judge. Fascism is a government that has taken on the philosophy of the lower part of human nature. True blue values get lost in secular values and neoliberal quantifiers. The economist, the engineer, the doctor tells us what’s good - not the philosopher. This is what Lincoln called our “progress in degeneracy,” what Plato expounded in the Republic, why the Occupy movement failed, why nihilism has set in, and why Donald Trump was elected President. The people realize that the government isn’t going to protect them from the capitalists because they are the capitalists.
