This exhibit was curated by Jason Hasty, UGA Athletics History Specialist for the University of Georgia Libraries' Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
The Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library would also like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Victoria Berkow and Caroline Corbitt for helping to make this exhibit possible.
Victoria Berkow drew upon her extensive knowledge of this time period and research for her Master’s thesis, ‘”Let Honor Fall”: Georgia Football and Lost Cause Mentality, 1892-1925’, examining masculine identity in football, the role of female sponsors, and the tragic death of ‘Von’ Gammon, for use in this exhibit. Ms. Berkow also did extensive background research into University of Georgia football during this time period that went far beyond the scope of her thesis.
Caroline Corbitt, an undergraduate in the Lamar Dodd School of Art’s graphic design program, was responsible for all graphics seen in both the physical and digital exhibit, as well as any and all print and web advertisements.
